AI with a Human Touch: KPA’s Unique Approach to Artificial Intelligence
In today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape, artificial intelligence (AI) is fundamentally reshaping the way business is done, offering both remarkable opportunities and unique challenges that need a thoughtful steer.
At KPA property management agency, we’ve embarked on an ambitious journey to blend cutting-edge AI technology with our distinctive human-centric approach. We’ve been carefully navigating the complexities of AI (and there’s been a lot to learn), to ensure that it complements, rather than replaces, our personal touch.
As AI and Large Language Models continue to develop at an accelerated pace, they sometimes produce errors known as hallucinations, which can pose significant issues in business if not managed properly.
To guard against these AI errors, we’ve collaborated closely with a highly trusted and experienced programmer to integrate AI agents thoughtfully into our systems. This collaboration has enhanced our team’s capabilities rather than diluting them, bringing the best of both worlds; human expertise and machine efficiency.
By seamlessly integrating AI into the business, we hope to ensure that our operations are more efficient, accurate, and insightful, whilst at the same time maintaining our unique voice and expertise. Through careful planning and execution, we are leveraging the latest in technology to enhance our client interactions and service delivery.
AI – the pros and cons
AI technology offers numerous advantages to businesses, ranging from increased efficiency to enhanced decision-making capabilities. When integrated effectively, AI can transform traditional business practices, introducing innovations that were previously unattainable.
One of the primary benefits of AI is its unparalleled ability to process vast amounts of data quickly and accurately. This capability empowers businesses to gain invaluable insights and make data-driven decisions at a pace and accuracy that was previously impossible. These insights enable companies to stay ahead of industry trends and adapt to market changes more swiftly than ever before.
In addition, AI has the potential to automate repetitive and mundane tasks, freeing up the team to focus on more complex, creative, and human-centred activities. This not only leads to increased productivity but also contributes to greater job satisfaction, as it means that the team can focus on what they do best, rather than being bogged down by routine tasks.
On the flip side, AI implementation can be a costly venture, as it often involves significant changes to existing business processes and infrastructure. Companies need to consider the initial investment and ongoing maintenance costs, as well as potential disruptions during the transition period.
Added to this is the risk of job displacement in certain areas, as AI takes over some roles traditionally performed by humans. This challenge necessitates proactive planning and retraining programmes to equip employees with the skills needed for the evolving landscape.
There is also a lack of human intuition and emotional intelligence with a lot of AI models, which could lead to misinterpretation and inappropriate reactions. And then there are the AI hallucinations, that, if not planned for, rigorously tested and given an endless information silo and robust source of quality data, can present a real issue for businesses.
AI Hallucinations Explained
AI hallucinations occur when AI systems, particularly large language models, generate information that is incorrect, nonsensical, or entirely fabricated. This phenomenon poses significant challenges in business, where accuracy and reliability are crucial.
These hallucinations occur because AI models, despite their advanced design and sophistication, don’t truly understand the information they process. Instead, they generate responses based on patterns in their training data, which can sometimes lead to errors or misleading responses. This lack of true comprehension can result in anomalies in AI behaviour, manifesting as responses that are plausible but fundamentally flawed.
In a business context, the impact of AI hallucinations can be far-reaching. In the very worst of cases, misinformation generated by AI systems can lead to incorrect decisions being made, resulting in financial loss, reputational damage, or operational inefficiencies. In this respect, AI hallucinations are a lot like any team member in training; ultimately all team members will make mistakes at first, this is to be expected, and it is important to oversee the training of an AI Agent in exactly the same way that you would any other member of your team, using errors as learning points and signposts that more information and data is required.
Go steady, don’t rush in, put in the time and you will be rewarded – to anyone who has ever built a team before, we know that this will sound very familiar!
To mitigate the risk of AI hallucinations, it is of the upmost importance to implement robust monitoring and validation routines. These systems should be designed to continuously evaluate and cross-check AI-generated information, incorporating feedback loops that allow for ongoing learning and refinement of AI models.
Additionally, fostering collaboration between AI systems and human experts not only enhances oversight but also elevates the overall effectiveness of AI integration within organisational frameworks and workflows.
At KPA we love technology and we have always understood and been excited by its potential. However, we believe in the best of the tech working in harmony with the best of the people, and that the two should go hand in hand – great team, great tech; a winning combination. So it has been a gentle and cautious process to bring this wonderful, new technology into our business; the tone had to be right, the limits of the tech (like the hallucinations for example) had to be addressed and then the process of rigorous testing could begin. We have been fortunate in building a relationship with an amazing team of experienced and specialised programmers, who understand and respect what we are trying to achieve, in that we do not want to dehumanise what we do, but quite the opposite – to enhance and augment it!
A huge warm welcome to Claire, Team KPA’s first AI recruit
So, with all this in mind, we are very proud to introduce Claire, KPAs first, Virtual Team Member. For the moment, Claire will be taking on minor tasks and jumping on a few calls to learn as much as she can; it is early days for her in Team KPA. If you get the opportunity to speak to her on the phone, then be patient with her while she learns – because there’s a lot to learn! We feel sure that she will soon become a valued team member – as what’s not to like about a bright spark, who’s super-efficient and whose only agenda is to help get the job done. She will introduce herself as “Claire, KPA’s AI Virtual Assistant,” because we want everyone to know exactly who they are speaking to but, it is our hope that she will very quickly feel every inch as unique and human, as the rest of Team KPA. Let us know what you think, we’d really value your feedback!
As Landlords and Investors ourselves, we can help and advise on all aspects of your portfolio. If we can help you then give us a call on 0117 440 6789 or email us here together we can make being a landlord simple, passive and stress free!
